The Aftermath

I hope everyone had a nice Christmas yesterday. I sure did.

On Saturday night my boyfriend and I went to my parents’ house and had Christmas Eve dinner. My parents went Filipino style this year. My mom was tired of cooking from Thanksgiving and didn’t want to deal with it so they just bought all the food. We went to a night mass (though not quite Midnight Mass, as is the tradition), then my boyfriend and I went home.

The next morning we went to my parents’ house to eat lunch and open presents, but before that we opened our own presents first. Here’s how you can tell we’re real geeks.

This is what he got for me:

- A set of kickass ER-6i Isolator earphones from Etymotic Research for my iPod and other listening needs (i.e, playing PC games late at night).

- A copy of Dead Rising, a badass video game for the Xbox 360 where you get to kill lots of zombies.

- An HD-DVD of Batman Begins. For Christmas, one of the presents my bf got from his parents was the HD-DVD player add-on for the Xbox 360. It looks mighty sweet, I tell ya. Even DVDs filmed in digital (e.g., Star Wars Episode 2: Attack of the Clones) look like shit once you’ve been spoiled with 1080p resolution.

This is what I got him:

- An HD-DVD copy of Superman II: The Richard Donner cut.

- Ultimate X-Men, Vol. 2

- Some Spider-Man comic book that he needs to exchange since he read it already.

Then I got him and me the coolest presents of all- LIGHTSABERS.

Yep, I got us some toy lightsabers that light up and make sounds for us to play with. Mine is the Obi-Wan Kenobi version, while his is the old school Darth Vader version. They’re huge and clunky, but fun to play with. I don’t reckon they’d last very long since we get pretty brutal with them, so thank goodness they’re only $20. My brother has his own lightsabers (Luke and Vader versions), so after opening presents at my parents’ house, my brother, bf, and I went outside to play. It must have been an interesting sight seeing a 28-year-old man, a 31-year-old man, and a 30-year-old woman playing with plastic lightsabers. But it was lots of fun- and quite a workout!

I got lots of presents from my parents too of course- mainly clothes and makeup though, which I needed. My brother actually got me some sweet presents this year: DVDs of The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror, and South Park Season 5. My sister got me pajamas. My parents got my bf a nice shirt for work, and he got them a Best Buy gift certificate.

So, what did you guys get for Christmas?
