My Very Own Domain Name!
Published by Toni March 21st, 2006 in Uncategorized. So I finally bit the bullet and signed up for a domain name and host last night. I won’t mention the name yet since I’m still in the process of moving my old posts from my wordpress.com blog over there. Man, it ain’t easy. Ya see, WP.com has a lot of restrictions, one of them being that for now, the best way to import your posts to another blog is to use the RSS feeds, and for some reason not all the images transferred. You can image the fun I’ve been having in manually reinserting the movie poster images. Oh, and eventually I’ll have to host all images to the new server. Fun times. At least I have a cool new theme. I really like it. It’s a very dark grey, almost black.
Man, I must have spent almost a week trying to think of a name for my new movie review blog. Unfortunately, most of the good ones are taken, if not by actual people, but by squatters, who charge ridiculous amounts of money, to degenerates who buy random domain names for a website that’s nothing but a list of ads.
But fortune smiled upon me last night in the form of my boyfriend. I had been pestering him all weekend, throwing him ideas about a domain name. Last night was sort of the last straw for him since I was bugging him during his beloved Battlefield 2 multiplayer games.
“How about __________?” he suggested.
“Hmm…let me think about that for a bit…That’s bloody brilliant!”
I’m pretty excited about the possibilities. I’d like to maintain the overall blog, but I wonder what else I can do now. I’ve got tons of bandwidth and hard drive space to play with. Should I host movie trailers? I think it would be cool to do so. I think it’d be cool if there were sections to review trailers and posters. Ah, but I would need to grow the site by a lot to accomplish all that. We’ll see how it goes.

I can hardly wait to see it!
Domain name purchasing is the cool thing to do. It surely makes my life easier since I can omit that extra “.” and/or “/”. Congrats and welcome to the club. ^_^
