I Got It! :)
Published by Toni March 12th, 2006 in Uncategorized. In a post I wrote a couple of weeks ago, I mentioned that I had a job interview. Well, last week I got a call back, and they’ve offered me the position! YAY!
I’m pretty excited because not only do I get paid more with this new job, but it’s also within walking distance to my apartment (about 20 minutes’ walk). I can save gas and also get some exercise out of it.
But most importantly, this job is a research assistant position, which means that I’ll finally be doing something that is related to what I’ve been learning at school. I can apply my experiences and what I’ve learned in classes to my job. I like where I work right now and I like my co-workers, but since it’s basically a clerical position, I don’t get many chances to apply my skills as a researcher.
Furthermore, I can learn more about research at this job. Sure, it’s only part time, and granted, as an assistant I won’t be creating the actual research projects, but I think it’s a step in the right direction. Once I get my Master’s (hopefully within a year), perhaps I can move on to a higher position, like project manager. That would be cool.
Thanks for all the well wishes everyone!

Congratulations! May you someday take out the “assistant” in research assistant.
Thanks Marvo! Same here. In most of my jobs I’ve been an “assistant”- Billing Assistant, Appraisal Assistant, Student Assistant- I’m tired of that title.
Congrats, Toni!
You’ll do great in your new job.
congratulations toni!
welcome to the lion’s den
Congrats ! Maybe it’s time for me to get out of my dead end factory job….
Congratulations on getting the job! Yup, this sounds like a great stepping stone forward in your career. =)
Thanks everyone!
Congratulations, may your luck rub off on all of us :).
hey you! congratulations!
Thanks very much Damon and Tinka!
Congratulations
When do u start?
Thanks Null! Actually, because they still need to check references and do background checks, and because they outsource this work, they say it may take up to a month! It’s cool though, because then I can finish the semester at my current job- not to mention that I am going to NY in April so I can’t start right away anyways
Congrat!
wishing you much enjoyment in your
new career!
Maria
Thank you very much maria!
