Another Holiday Again So Soon?
Published by Toni December 30th, 2005 in Uncategorized.I’ve always thought it was kind of funny for Christmas and New Year’s to be only a week apart. I tend to prefer for my holidays to be spread out more, you know?
Anyway…
So how are you guys spending your New Year’s Eves? As for me, my bf and I are doing things locally this year. Since my bf doesn’t have a lot of time off, we can’t go out of town, and we’d done the Vegas New Year thing last year. For New Year’s Eve, we’ve got reservations at a steakhouse in Old Town Pasadena. There’s supposed to be live music and dancing from 9pm to 1:30 am, so it should be lots of fun. As for New Year’s Day, we figure that we’ll spend a good part of it recovering from the night before, then see a movie.
Also, since we now live in Pasadena, we figured it only made sense to go to the Rose Parade, especially since we’re literally going to be only 3 blocks away from it. While my bf has been to the Rose Parade as a little boy, I’ve never gone before so I’m looking forward to it.
My New Year’s Eves for the past 5 years or so have been great. I make a point to go out and have a good time. To be honest, I’ve just been making up for lost time. My parents never, ever went out on New Year’s Eve- no dinners, no parties, nothing. They were SCARED. They’d say, “No, people will be firing their guns in the air to celebrate the New Year.” Where are we, Iraq?? Or they’d say, “No, there’ll be too many drunk drivers on the road.” Whatever. It pissed me off to no end, and I’d be imprisoned in my house, bored out of my skull. For years I watched those New Year’s countdown parties on TV and wanted so badly to be one of those people, dancing and having a good time.
Thank God those days are long gone.
I’m looking forward to tommorow night. It’s going to be a lot of fun!
Christmas, New Year’s Eve, Old Town, Pasadena, party, steakhouse

I used to go to the Rose Parade when I was really little, it’s definitely a fun time. Once I got to help build a float that my dad’s company put together - if you can call a 4-year-old painting a star “helping”.
