A Casemod Up Close and Personal
Published by Toni July 31st, 2005 in Uncategorized. So, check this out.
Remember when I said in my LANFest story that I got to meet Jeffrey Stephenson, a casemodder famous for using cigar humidors as PC cases? He was gracious enough to loan the Newegg staff one of his casemods, the Humidor CL Server. In fact, my friend got to take it home with him (only for the night), and I got the chance to get a much better, detailed look!
Of course there are pictures

Here’s the humidor PC. Doesn’t look like your average computer, does it?
Here’s a cool view from the side. Don’t you just love the chrome?
Some of you might be wondering, “But where does the computer go?”
So let’s take a look inside.
Here’s what it looks like with the lid open. The tray is where the cigars would normally sit. Of course, you can’t really use it to keep cigars anymore since the computer parts inside would make it way too hot for the cigars.
Here’s the same cigar tray turned upside down. Lo and behold! There’s the hard drive mounted on it, along with several USB ports and the power supply. On Jeffrey’s website, he explains that this cigar tray section is fully functional and can be used independently of the case.
Here’s the humidor without the cigar tray.
Here it is again, this time with the lid open. What you see is the “naked” wireless router, removed from its plastic case and bolted to the interior of the humidor.

American culture has the charming trait of novelty. In no other culture is such a premium on the cute but useless.
“Cute but useless” is a wonderful description of your short-sighted narrowly-focused opinion.
