Weird Observation…
Published by Toni May 16th, 2005 in Uncategorized.Last night I picked up my bf from the airport (he attended a wedding this past weekend in Austin, Tx.). We went to this coolio Mexican place for dinner called Tito’s Tacos.
The cool thing about Tito’s Tacos is that, in spite of its location (under the 405 freeway) and despite its appearance (pretty much a dive), it gets lots and lots and lots of customers. Throngs of people line up inside and outside Tito’s Tacos no matter what day of the week. It’s amazing.
I believe their secret is that they serve up really tasty, but simple and cheap tacos. There’s no choice of beef or chicken- it’s just beef. You can also get enchiladas and burritos, but people come mostly for the tacos. My bf and I got 5 tacos (they’re bigger than a Taco Bell taco but still small enough that you need at least two to feel full), guacamole, 2 small drinks, plus free chips and a ton of salsa for only 11$. That’s a hell of a deal considering you’re getting real Mexican food and not the Taco Bell kind.
Don’t get me wrong; I love Taco Bell.
Anyway, like I said, the place is always packed, and it was packed last night. We fortunately were able to secure a table quickly, and my bf hung his jacket on a chair to show others that the table was taken while we went to stand in line to order the food.
Several minutes later, I happened to turn around and glance in the direction of our table. I immediately called my bf’s attention.
Much to our surprise and annoyance, this couple was standing over our table and placed their food on the table! Although they remained standing, they opened up the boxes and containers of food and proceeded to eat out of it!
We were confused. Can’t they see that my bf’s jacket was hanging on a chair? What are they doing? My bf looked really irritated, hoping that they wouldn’t spill food on his jacket.
I noticed that they hadn’t sat down, and guessed that perhaps they were just making sure that their server had gotten their order correctly and was just making sure that everything was there.
Why then, were they actually eating the food? The man pretty much dipped his spoon in the spanish rice and ate it. Were they making sure that it tasted good?
And why did they park themselves at our table? Granted, they were standing, and yes, we weren’t sitting there yet, but I just found it kind of weird. If I see that a table is occupied, I wouldn’t put my stuff down on it -even if the people aren’t there at the moment.
Anyway, the couple seemed satisfied with their order, so they repacked their items and left our table.

I love tacos. Especially those taquerias they have in San Francisco.
Tacos are very good food. How are the dogs coming? They would like a taco too I’m sure.
Incidents like that are why I believe in our right to bear firearms.
I wouldn’t mind trying those tacos!
Johnnie- I don’t think I’ve ever had tacos in San Francisco. I’ve had tacos in Japan, but strangely enough not in SF.
Warchild- I don’t see my dogs very often anymore since I moved to Pasadena, but they’re doing ok. I don’t reckon my parents would give them tacos though- it might give them diahrrea. After all, Taco Bell tacos give my mom the runs, so why not dogs?
Bug- I hear ya about your firearms comment. How are the tacos in Tuscon? I figure that they’re pretty tasty.
Actually, I heard that Tito’s Tacos is overrated. Try the little Mexican place behind it, too.
