Scratch N’ Sniff Mp3 Players?!?

Ya know, if I owned an mp3 player, I would expect it to have certain features such as an LCD screen (sorry, iShuffle), long battery life, cool design, and a simple interface (which is why I want the iPod mini so badly!). However, it never, ever occured to me to include scent in that list.

Yes, now you can buy scented mp3 players! Choose from cookie, cherry, lemon, strawberry, marijuana, casino, blueberry, and coffee. Oh yes my friends, you heard me right- MARIJUANA AND CASINO scented.

Let’s think about this for a moment, shall we?

First of all, why on earth would I want my mp3 player to smell like anything, period? I understand that it’s cool if you could do other things with your mp3 player like display photos, play solitaire, or organize your address book, but scented? Why?

Second, how the hell did they come up with using marijuana and casino as scents for their mp3 players? Did they do a focus group and find that most mp3 player owners are pothead gambling addicts?

Third, what the hell is “casino” supposed to smell like? Stale beer and cigarettes? People’s broken dreams as they lose their life savings in a poker game?

I…I don’t get it.

I just don’t get it.

i don’t get it either. i love the sony nwe99 (1 gb, $200). it has super-long battery life, a (albeit small) lcd, and it’s tiny!
noticed the pic, first thing, because your sidebar loads up first. v.cute. you do look darling, like you were heading out when the pic was taken…?

Remember scratch and sniff stickers? And scented markers? Ok, those I totally get (actually, I LOVED scented markers!)- but mp3 players??? Weird.

Haemi- Thanks for the compliment! Yeah, this one is a lot more recent. The original one is about a year old.

wyn- Thanks for the compliment too! Yes, as a matter of fact, it was taken during our (my boyfriend and I) super fancy, romantic New Year’s Eve dinner in Vegas. I cropped him out since I don’t think he’d want his pic posted on the internet.

I have a theory that Mac users are potheads. That explains the marijuana-smelling I-Pod.
