New Layout!

Yes I know, I changed the layout after having had the other one for just a couple of weeks. I didn’t like the way the sidebar was all messed up in IE, and I tried fixing it but it just wasn’t budging. I like the way this one looks so far; however, it’s kind of dark and I wonder if I’m allowed to change the purple background. Ok, I just changed the background, and I actually I like it a lot more now. I sure hope Toni Allen doesn’t mind!
I have some more problems I’d like to fix. A lot of the problems are in the sidebar. When I add something extra, it gets distorted. Here are some of the problems:
1.) I don’t like the underlined links in the content section and in the sidebar. I know that the links are just underlined by default since I added those links (links to blog ads and the copyright- for example). I got rid of the underlined links in the sidebar but I have yet to get rid of the underlined links in the main body.
2.) The font for the extra stuff I added in the sidebar is HUGE! I want it to match the font for the “Categories”, “Wordpress”, “Miscellaneous”, etc.
3.) The extra stuff I added is all smooshed to the left side. I’d like for them to line up with everything else.
4.) This one is not so much a problem but more of a preference. I’d like for the paragraphs of my posts to take on a “block” shape- meaning that the margins of the right side match the left.
5.) I need to fix the tagboard page. The popup window doesn’t show the tagboard since it’s off to the side.
So can some kind soul help me out with these problems?

This is a pretty dramatic change. I think it’s ok but I have to adapt after the lighter, prettier, less dramatic predecesor. Are you using WordPress 1.5 now?
Looking at it some more it is definitely ok.
it looks like you got rid of the underlining of the links? i don’t know if wordpress uses css and that you’ve modified the a.link attribute to get rid of the underlining. i like the new layout, it looks cleaner… did you change from a creamy bgd to white? and i agree the dark purple (which looks quite black-ish to me) could stand to be lightened up.
Warchild- you thought the other one was prettier? I liked it too but it was kind of plain. And I just couldn’t figure out how to fix the sidebar in IE. It was always pushed to the bottom for some reason. No, I’m not using 1.5 yet. I have been thinking about it but I heard it’s harder to customize.
Wyn- I got this layout from Toni Allen, but for some reason I can’t find it on her website nor can I find the terms of service to see if I can change the background. I haven’t been able to get rid of the underlines in the links if you look at the blog ads to the side.
Hola. I like the new layout. It’s clean. You probably need to specify a style for the sidebar text that matches the font styles of the sidebar headings and links.
I haven’t upgraded to WP 1.5 either, but I haven’t had any problems with my current version. I don’t know why I’d need a new one. I have heard that the new version is a bit tricky too.
You’ve been tweaking! I like it more now.
I like plain and simple. I prefer content over style . . . or something . . . 1.5 isn’t tricky but the templates are fewer and conversion of old templates IS tricky.
I’m digging the new blog design. But where’s the picture of you?
Tinka- I figured I would need to write out a code that specifies a style for the extra sidebar stuff I added (the ads, the little announcement message on top) but I don’t know how to do it yet.
Warchild- my friend, I’m always tweaking my blog. It never stops
But I do like the red background much better. It matches it a lot more than the dark purple.
Bug- the little cartoon pic of me is on the sidebar. You don’t see it? The pic of the real me is on my old Blogspot blog.

Good question, dreaming-neko. I was thinking about that myself. After all, he’s my mascot. Ok, I figured it out. I made my pic into an animated GIF and incorporated his pic! This will have to do for now, until I can think of something cooler to do
Woah! I am loving the rich colors! The paragraph justified aligning thingi just needs to be set in the CSS. It looks so good! I liked the old look too, but I like the rush of colors. Ugh, which reminds me… I’ve never changed my blog!
